A number of complexes formed by alkali metals with some anils, imines, hydrocarbons, and aromatic nitrocompounds were prepared in dioxan solution. The relative reactivities towards organic halides of the sodium complexes were measured and the results compared with the values for other complexes. The linear relationship between the logarithm of the relative reactivity and orbital energy found previously is discussed further, The absorption spectra of the complexes in the visible region were determined. Further examples of a linear relationship between the frequencies of peak maxima and 1/(r/sub c/ + 2), where r/ sub c/ is the radius of the alkali metal cation, were found. (auth)
