COMPLEX METAL HALIDES IN FUSED ALKALI NITRATES

Solubility relationships and reaction kinetics using a mixture of alkali nitrates as solvent for inorganic salts were investigated. Association affects observed show that complex ions are formed between metal ions and halide ions. The rate studies suggest a mechanism for a dichromate--nitrate reaction. Solubility dependence on halide concentration is interpreted in terms of complex ion formation. (T.R.H.)
