The distribution of hexavalent uranium between alcohol-nitric acid solutions and the strongly basic anion exchanger Dowex-1

The adsorption of uranium from HNO3 solutions containing aliphatic alcohols was investigated. The anion exchanger Dowex-1 was used. It was found that the absorption of the uranium nitrate complex on the resin is highest in an amyl alcohol medium and lowest in methanol medium. The adsorption of uranium at higher percentages of alcohol increased with increasing chain length of the alcohol employed. (M.C.G.)
