PHOTODISINTEGRATION OF NITROGEN

Using a cloud chamber the photodisintegration of N/sup 14/ was studied with gamma bremsstrahlung radiation with E/sub gamma max/ = 90 Mev. Photonuclear reaction yields and integral cross sections of the ( gamma , p), ( gamma , n), and ( gamma , np) reactions, as well as the total cross section, were determined. The energy and angular distributions of protons and neutrons obtained for the ( gamma , p), ( gamma , n), and ( gamma , np) reactions were discussed and compared with calculations. Certain details of the ( gamma , np) reaction mechanism were given. (auth)
