INDUCTION OF TUMOURS IN MICE WITH TRITIATED THYMIDINE

Journal Article · · Nature
DOI:https://doi.org/10.1038/192571a0· OSTI ID:4828493
Preliniinary results are presented of the incidence of tumors in mice after a single intraperitoneal injection of tritiated thymidine. AIthough the total number of tumors is small, there is evidence that the death rate from tumors is significantly higher aimong the exposed than among the control animals. The results indicate that, at this dose-level, trltiated thymidine is a carcinogen in mice. The following types of malignant tumors are observed among the experimental animalsi thymic lymphoma; non-thymic, dis seminated lymphoma; salivary gland tumor; carcinoma of the skin; carcinoma of the lung; and carcinoma of the liver.
