Separation and Spectrophotometric and Spectrographic Determination of Rare Earths in Uranium Compounds; SEPARAZIONE E DETERMINAZIONE SPETTROFOTOMETRICA E SPETTROGRAFICA DI TERRE RARE IN COMPOSIT DI URANIO

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4828368

After the extraction of Uranium with 0.5M TIOA in xylene from strong chloride solutions, two methods are proposed to isolate the rare earths elements from other interfering ions: extraction of lantanides by employing TTA in xylene at 60/ deg C; and chromatography on anionic resin sulfuric solutions. The rare earths are determined altogether by a spectrophotometric procedure using arsenazo. In controlled atmosphere it is possible to carry out a qua-ntitative spectrographic determination arcing the fluorides. The procedure for the determination of Gd, Sm, Dy, and Er is described. (auth)
