SEPARATION AND SPECTROPHOTOMETRIC AND SPECTROGRAPHIC DETERMINATION OF SOME RARE EARTHS IN URANIUM COMPOUNDS (in Italian)

Journal Article · · Met. ital.

After the extraction of uranium with TIOA 0.5 M in xylene from strongly chloride solutions, two methods are proposed to isolate the rare earths from other interfering ions: a) extraction of lanthanides by employing TTA in xylene at 60 deg C; b) chromatography on anionic resin in sulfuric solutions. The rare earths are altogether determined by a spectrophotometric procedure using arsenazo; in a controlled atmosphere it is possible to carry out a quantitative spectrographic determination arcing the fluorides. The procedure for the determination of Gd, Sm, Dy, and Er is described. (auth)
