A reactor charging and discharging arrangement is designed for gas- cooled graphite-moderated reactors used in ship propulsion and having a control system of the type described in British Patent 898,894. In this arrangement, the position-determining element of a shutdown means is withdrawn from an articulated guide tube, and the guide tube is adjusted to serve as a charge and discharge chute.
