Decay of Xe/sup 133/ is studied in detail using scintillation beta - spectrometric techniques. The 81.0, 160.5, 302, and 382 kev gamma transitions in Cs/sup 133/ are detected in the gamma spectrum and their intensity ratios determined to be 1, 1.09 x 10/sup -3/ 1.23 x 10/sup -4/, and 6.2 x 10/sup -5/. In addition the 79.6-kev transition from the second excited level of Cs/sup 133/ is observed in the internal conversion spectrum, as well as in the gamma - coincidence spectrum, and the total branching ratio to this level is determined. The K/L/sub I/L/sub II//L/sub III//M/N conversion ratios of the 8l.0-kev transition are determined. The K conversion coefficient of this transition is remeasured and found to be 1.39 plus or minus 0.06. The half life of Xe/sup 133m/ is determined to be 54.24 plus or minus 0.40 hours. The decay scheme of Xe/sup 133/ is discussed. Nuclear structure effects on the conversion of the M1 lforbidden 81-kev transition are considered according to the theory of Church and Weneser. The KLL, KLX and KXY Auger spectra of Cs are studied and the results are compared to the theory of Asaad and Burhop. A brief discussion of the post- acceleration technique used for the detection of low energy electrons is given in an appendix in connection with the measured L Auger spectrum. (auth)
