AUGER TRANSITIONS IN Re$sup 183$ AND THE M3 ISOMER IN Os$sup 18$$sup 9$

The rhenium KLL, KLM, KLN, and KLO auger lines were observed in experiments on the decay of Os/sup 182/ and Os/sup 183/ The measured energies are compared with those given by semiempirical theoriea due to Bergstrom and kill and to Asaaid and Burhop: satisfactory agreement is found. A compartson of the measured intensities with those given by the nonrelativistic theory of Asaad and Burhop shows less satisfactory agreement. Conversion lines attributed to a previously reported M3 isomer in Os/sup 189/ were observed and the transition energy found to be 30.81 plus or minus 0.03 kev. L- and M-subshell ratios are reported. The transition appears to be hindered by a factor of 5 x 10/sup 4/ relative to the single-particle estimate. (auth)
