LIQUID OXIDE PHASE SINTERING OF MOLYBDENUM AND TUNGSTEN

Journal Article · · J. Less-Common Metals

ln the hydrogen sintering of Mo and W at about l700 deg C, compacts containing minor amounts of TiO/sub 2/ combined with UO/sub 2 or ThO/sub 2// will permit the sintered density to approach theoretical. The combination of these oxides appears to result in a phase which is liquid at the sintering temperature, and wets Mo and W. (auth)
