S>A controlled plasma generator for creating a circular or oval-shaped plasma is designed which is capable of producing a greater pinch effect than conventional toroidal or linear tubes. The plasma generator includes two electrodes encircled by a plurality of outer conductors made of hollow tubing in an oval or circular configuration. Two arcs are struck between a striking electrode and the two electrodes, and the resulting plasmas are forced apart until they are balanced in a circular configuration by the opposing magietic field of the outer conductors.
