THE CONCENTRATIONS OF $sup 90$Sr AND $sup 137$Cs IN LAND WATERS IN JAPAN

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4822186
BS>Cesium-137 and strontium-90 concentrations in land waters in Japan are tabulated, and a brief discussion is given on the run-off of these radionuclides frond rivers. As one of the extreme cases in land waters, ground waters collected from a spring at the shore of Lake Haruna did not contain measurable amounts of Sr/sup 90/. The contrary case was observed in stagnant lake waters. The concentratilon of Sr/sup 90/ in tap water varies in response to its resource. The average concentration of Sr/sup 90/ in river waters in Japan is roughly estlmated as 0.1-0.2 mu mu c/l in 1960. The concentration of Cs/sup 137/ in river waters is considerably lower than that of Sr/sup 90/ (P.C.H.)
