Measurements were made of /sup 90/Sr and /sup 137/Cs concentrations in bottom deposits of rivers and lakes in the vicinity of Moscow. The following conclusions were made: /sup 137/Cs concentrations are highest at the surface of bottom deposits of stretches of rivers with a very weak flow owing to the predominance of sorption over desorption; desorption of /sup 137/Cs from the surface layer of bottom deposits predominates on fast-flowing stretches of rivers and isotope concentration in the surface layer is lower; and /sup 90/Sr is more easily washed out from the surface of bottom deposits than /sup 137/Cs which leads to an increase in the /sup 137/Cs//sup 90/Sr ratio.
