PROCESS AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING THE TEMPERATURE OF SLOW NEUTRONS

The process for controlling the temperature of slow neutrons in an experimental nuclear reactor consists in controlling the temperature of a part of the moderator, this moderator enclosing suitably the experimental hole of the reactor. Preferably, an experimental reactor according to said process comprises a reflector enclosing a cylindrical annular fuel zone, a thermal insulation covering the inner edge of said fuel zone, and an inner annular moderator (reflector) zone enclosed by said insulation. The latter moderator zone is provided with electrical heating means controlling its temperature and encloses a central experimental hole for the samples to be investigated. (NPO)
