METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CONTROLLING THE POWER OF A BOILING WATER REACTOR

The position of the control rod of a boiling water reactor is directly influenced by the steam pressure in the reactor vessel in such a way that the difference between the desired working pressure and the real working pressure in the reactor vessel acts in the direction of a diminution of this difference. Preferably, a piston sliding in a cylinder is connected with the control rod, the two said pressures acting on the different faces of the piston nnn such a way that the control rod tends to enter more deeply into the core as the real steam pressure begins to exceed the controlled pressure. Values representing the difierential coefficient of the neutronic power and thc difterential coefficient of its logarithm are derived by appropriate means; these values influence the said controlled pressure in a negative feed back manner.
