Study of Iodination Processes for Common Salt using Radioactive I{sup 131}; UNTERSUCHUNG DES JODIERUNGSPROZESSES VON SPEISESIEDESALZ MIT RADIOAKTIVEM {sup 131}J (in German)

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4820418
Investigations concerning iodination of common salt and he formation of iodine compounds in salt were carried out with the help of I{sup 131}. Study of the iodination processes covered determination of the quantitative distribution ratio of the microcomponents KIO/sub 3/ and NaI between the solid phase of NaCl and the mother liquor as well as an explanation of the distribution mechanism during evaporation of the salt water. It was estsblished that under the given experimental conditions for separation of the NaCl, the iodine compound remains almost completely in solution. The small amount of iodine compound which is fixed in the salt solution is that adhering to crystal surfaces. (tr-auth)
