A SIMPLE PREPARATION OF 5-IODQ-2'-DEOXYURIDINE LABELLED WITH IODINE-131 USING IODINE MONOCHLORIDE
A method of preparing 5-iodo-2'-deoxyuridine that gives consistent yields of 65 to 75% and I/sup 131/ uptakes of 55 to 80% of the I/sup 131/ used is described. Carrier-free NaI/sup 131/ was obtained, and for each preparation a fresh solution of iodine monochloride was made. The iodine monochloride and deoxyuridine were heated together, and the product was purified by ion exchange. (M.C.G.)
