A procedure is described for the convenient chemical synthesis of I/sup 131/-labeled-5-iodo-2 -deoxyuridine 5 phosphate. Results are reported from a study of its effectiveness as an exogenous source for the incorporation of 5- iodouracil into deoxyribonucleic acid of cells in culture. (C.H.)
