Ac/sup 225/ and Ac/sup 226/ were produced from the bombardment of Th/sup 232/ and U/sup 238/ by nitrogen or neon ions. It is supposed that these isotopes were produced due to the stripping of a number (6-13) of nucleons from the nucleus of the bombarded element. The cross sections for actinium isotopes are higher in the thorlum bombardment (stripping of 6-7 nucleons) than in the uranium bombardment (stripping of 12-13 nucleons). It is necessary to account for the daughter products of actinium as a possible source of the back ground in identifying the transuranium elements. (auth)
