Transfer Reactions in Thorium Irradiation by Ne$sup 2$$sup 2$; O NEKOTORYKH REAKTSIYAKH PEREDACHI PRI OBLUCHENII TORIYA IONAMI Ne$sup 2$$sup 2$

Technical Report ·

Reactions in which several (5 to 8) nucleons are transferred in heavy- ion collisions were studied. Targets of Th/sup 232/ were bombarded by Ne/sup 12/ , and heavy alpha -active products Th/sup 227/, Ac/sup 226/, Ac/sup 225/, and Ac/ sup 224/ were detected. Formation cross sections of these isotopes were measured as functions of energy of bombarding particles. They increase monotonicaliy beginning from 10/sup -30/ cm/sup 2/ at the Coulomb barrier to 10/sup -27/ cm at energy 154 Mev. Angular distributions for recoil-nuclei of these isotopes at 150 and 120 Mev are reported. They have maximums near the Hutherford cutoff. The peaks are at different angles for the different isotopes. The more nucleons are transferred, the greater is the angle at which the peak occurs. The reported results do not fit into existing models for mechanism of transfer reactions. (auth)
