THE USE OF I$sup 125$ TO INCREASE ISOTOPE SCANNING RESOLUTION

Journal Article · · Am. J. Roentgenol., Radium Therapy Nuclear Med.
OSTI ID:4818050
Experimental and clinical studies demonstrated that I/sup 125/ may be substituted for I/sup 131/ for liver and thyroid scanning with considerable advantage. The radiation dose to the patient may be reduced, the resolution and contrast of the scan increased, and the advantage of the long shelf life of the isotope may be enjoyed even without special detection equipment. When such equipment is used, the sensitivity of detection may be increased by an order of magnitude over that of availble commercial scanning devices using I/sup 131/. (auth)
