Retrogressive changes in the bronchial lymph nodes and in the bronchial cartilage, thickening of the septa of alveolar vesicles, of the intima and media of the pulmonary and bronchial vessels, obstruction or stenosis of the vascular canal, perivascular and bronchial round cell infiltration, and regressive changes in the bronchial epithelial cells and veslcular epithellum were seen in rabbits after x irradiation of 4000 to 10000 r to the thorax. The radiation injury was markedly reduced as to both onset and development after daily administration of epirenamine hydrochloride (0.05 mg/kg), benzilimidazollne hydrochloride (5.0 mg/ kg), acetylchollne chloride (0.5 mg/kg), tetraethylammonium chromide (25.0 mg/ kg), chlorpromazine hydrochloride (2 5 mg/kg), or dihydrooxypropyltheophylline (75.0 mg/k ) (Abstr.
