EFFECTS OF THE ADRENOCORTICAL HORMONE ON THE PULMONARY LESION IN RABBITS CAUSED BY X-RAY IRRADIATION

Journal Article · · Nippon Igaku Hoshasen Gakkai Zasshi (Japan)
OSTI ID:4801037
When adrenocortical hormone was administered in the course of or after x irradiation, the changes in the lung of rabbits such as increased interalveolar cells, interalveolar sclerosis, and interstitial sclerosis as well as regeneration and proliferation of the bronchial epithelium tion was observed more frequently in the interalveolar lumina. There was no obvious evidence of atrophic changes in the blood vessels and cartilages. There were no histological effects on the lung, when the hormones were administered a relatively long time following irradiation. (Abstr. Japan Med., I: No. 15, 196l)
