A device for precisely determining local variations in earth's magnetic field is designed which may be used in geophysical prospecting. The device comprises an aqueous solution of nitrosodisulfonate ions, a high-frequency circuit for saturating the electronic resonance band of the solution, a low- frequency circuit, means for tuning the low-frequency circuit on the nuclear resonant frequency, and means for measuring tae energy generated in the low- frequency circuit in the magnetic field.
