PROGRESS REPORT ON URANIUM EXTRACTION FROM ORES , MARCH 16, 1951-MAY 15, 1951

Investigations dealing with ores from Grants, New Mexico, the Lukachukai Mountain District in Arizona, the Belgian Congo, the Thomas Mountain Range in Utah, and the Witwatersrand, South Africa were made. Anionic exchange resin studies such as resin in pulp, self-elution with Rand leach liquors, adsorption of uranyl nitrate and uranyl perchlorate, adsorption of Fe, Mn, Co, As, and Mo from sulfate solutions, and adsorption of U from chloride bearing sulfate solutions are reported. Results are given of a study of the sulfating step in the lyometallurgy process. (auth)
