The inelastic scattering of 180-Mev protons from the level at about 22 Mev in He/sup 4/ is calculated by assuming the He/sup 4/ excited level to have J = 2- and T = 0. The calculated results are compared with the experimental data, in order to determine the existence of the level with J = 2- and T = 0 at 22 Mev. The polarizations calculated from GammelThaler and Signell-Marshak phase shifts show negative values, while the experimental data are positive and close to the free proton-nucleon scattering data.
