Processes of multiple pi -meson production by pi -p collisions at 2.8 Bev are studied by means of a bubble chamber filled with a xenon-propnne mixture. A strong interaction between pi mesons was observed in the final stages of pi =P yields pi = pi = p. Resonance type interactions were not found in reactions of three pi mesons with isotopic spin I=1/ The energy and angular distrubution peculiarities of secondary particles are explained by considerable pole diagram contributions. The cross section of pi - pi scattering is 90 mb at omega approx equal 25 Emm/sup 2/; the cross section decreases rapidly with increased pi meson energy. (R.V.J.)
