Multiple pi production in pi -p interactions at 7.2 Bev was measured in a 25-cm liquid-hydrogen bubble chamber in a 13.5 k gauss magnetic field. The pi mesons formed in an internal synchrophasatron target were focused by quadrupole lenses, magnetic analysis was achieved by means of a deflecting magnet. The beam dimensions at the entrance were 15 x 8 cm, mean pi -meson energy was 7.2 Bev. pi dispersion is described by a gaussian distribution with a half- width of 0.8 Bev. (R.V.J.)
