SOME ACTIVATION CROSS SECTIONS FOR 14.7 Mev NEUTRONS
Some actrvation cross sectrons of B, O, F, Al, P, and Cu for 14.7-Mev neutrons are compared using both beta- and gamma-ray detection techniques, and the absolute values computed with the ard of the Cu/sup 63/ and Cu/sup 65/ (n, 2n)-reaction cross section values. The Al/sup 27/ (n, p) cross section is shown not to vary significantly as a function off neutron energy near 14 Mev. The importance of an order-of-magnitude check of cross section values with gamma detection, whenever possible, is pointed out. Some details off cross section determination techniques are demonstrated and discussed. (auth)
