A SURVEY OF p-$alpha$ ELASTIC SCATTERING AS A POLARIZATION ANALYZER

Journal Article · · Helv. Phys. Acta, Suppl.
OSTI ID:4808570
Several polar graphs for proton scattering by He/sup 4/ nuclei-, which show the relation between the proton's energy, scattering angle, and resultant polarization, are compared. An empirically determined set of scattering phase shifts is used to find the angular dependence of the polarization at 17.5 Mev. It is found that this angular dependence is followed more closely by the Brockman polar graph than by the Gammel-Thaler polar graph. (T.F.H.)
