For an incident energy of about 90 Mev, the experimental polarization of tue proton scattered from He>s4/sup /ffers from the one of C>s1/sup > / forward small angles, though the calculated results by the use of the optical model potential predict the same polarization for all alpha particle tyne nuclei. In the angular region of interest the polarization of p-He>s4/sup /attering is smaller than that of p-C>s1/sup > / about 90 Mev, while the former is larger than the latter at about 150 Mev. The differences of the polarizations of the protons scattered from alpha particle type nuclei at about 150 Mev are mainly caused by the charge distributions of the target nuclei. The results for alpha particle type nuclei are compared with experimental data. The experimental values are measured at theta = 5 deg , and the calculated results are evaluated by using the Gammel-Thaler phase shifts of two-nucleon scattering at 150 Mev. (N.W.R.)
