POLARIZATION IN PROTON-HELIUM AND PROTON-CARBON ELASTIC SCATTERING

The polarization of protons scattered from He near 10 Mev is measured, and compared with polarizations calculated from phase shift analyses. The polarization of protons elastically scattered from C at 8 to 18 Mev is measured as a function of proton energy and scattering angle. The uses of these two scattering reactions as proton polarization analyzers are compared. (T.F.H.)
