DECAY OF Rh$sup 10$$sup 6$

Journal Article · · Nuclear Phys.

The decay of 30-sec Rh/sup 106/ was studied using the techniques of coincidence scintillation spectrometry and Siegbahn-Slatis intermediate image beta-ray- spectrometer. The gamma spectrum was studied bv putting the source inside the well of 7.6 cm x 7.6 cm Nal(Tl) crystal and also by' putting it outside the crystal. The highest energy level in Pd/sup 106/ is identified at 3.1 Mev and the gamma-ray of highest energy is 2.87 Mev. The gamma - gamma coincidence spectra (along with other coincidences) lndicate the 0.624-Mev gamma to be in coincidence with the 1.140-Mev gamma and the 1.050-Mev gamma to be in coincidence with the 0.870 and 1.050-Mev gamma. The energies, intensities and log ft values of beta-groups terminating at 0, 513, 1140, and 1560) kev levels were determined uslng a 40-nanosec resolving time coincidence arrangement, which is set up in conjunction with the beta-ray spectrometer. The possibility of a first octupole vibrational level in the region of 2.8 Mev is discussed. (auth)
