EXAMINATION OF KINETICS OF THERMAL DECOMPOSITION OF PEROXIDES OF POLYMETHYL METHACRYLATE

The kinetics of thermal decomposition of the peroxides obtained by gamma irradiation of polymethyl methacrylate in air was investigated. The method of examination of the velocity of this reaction was based on the reaction of DPPH with free radicals. The measurements resulted in finding the reaction to be of the first order. The rate constants for the thermal decomposition of the peroxides at temperatures of 70, 80, 90, and lOO deg C were determined. The constants for the Arrhenius formula were determined and the relationship k = 3.61 x lO/sup 5/e/sup -8/e/sup -15,000/rt/ was found. (auth)
