THE OCDR PROGRAM. Paper 8 of THE SEVENTH AECL SYMPOSIUM ON ATOMIC POWER

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4805320
A review is presented of the OCDR developnment program, which includes a comparison of the reactor concept with that of the CANDU concept. A comparison is made of the properties of heavy water and organic coolants. Major technical problems occurring in the development studies are discussed for fouling on fuel element surfaces, construction materials, coolant tube development, and uranium carbide fuels. The economic status is such that at present a 200 Mwe reactor is expected to produce power at about 5 mills/kwh. (B.O.G.)
