Title: THE GROWTH, BREEDING, LONGEVITY AND HISTOPATHOLOGY OF RATS FED IRRADIATED OR CONTROL FOODS. Final Report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4804196

The wholesomeness of irradiated pork, jam, flour, carrots, and peaches was evaluated in long-term feeding experiments in rats. Rations containing each irradiated food were compared with a ration containing the corresponding unirradiated food. Data are summarized on growth rate, food efficiencies, longevity, breeding, and hematology. No detrimental effect which could be associated with the irradiated foods was seen in groups fed irradiated pork, peaches, jam, or flour rations. Results in the group fed irradiated carrots were inconclusive. (C.H.)
