Radioprotective Action of Some Indolealkylamines

Journal Article · · International Journal of Radiation Biology and Related Studies in Physics, Chemistry and Medicine
The radioprotective action of 5-methoxytryptamine was found to be greater than that of 5-hydroxytryptamine in rats. Preliminary experiments in mice showed a protective action similar to that in rats. No protective effect was shown for psilocybine, a potent vasoconstrictor. It was concluded that no parallelism between vasoconstriction and radioprotection exists. (C.H.)
