A method is outlined for imparting improved resilience propeities to oil- extended rubbers. The method comprises subjecting the dispersion of oil in elastomer to ionizing radiation of energy >0.1 Mev for a dose of 2 to 5 x 10/sup 7/ rad. The extending oil is of the hydrocarbon and preferably makes up to 20 to 40% of the weight of the elastomer, while the elastomer may be natural or synthetic rubber. (D.L.C.)
