A natural or synthetic rubber latex and the pulverulent reinforcing filler are subjected to ionizing radiation of 10/sup 4/ to 10/sup 8/ r, and the latex is then coagulated chemically or thermally. The filler material is in general carbon black and may be added to the latex as a suspension or aqueous dispersion. After irradiation, the aqueous dispersion of the elastomer and filler transformed into various shapes by coagulation. Examples are given of the mechanical properties after various treatments of the latex and filler. (R.E.U.)
