EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE ACTION OF RADIOACTIVE PHOSPHORUS (P$sup 32$) ON FERTILITY (in Spanish)

Journal Article · · Medicina
OSTI ID:4801147
The effect of P/sup 32/ on the gonads was studied in Balb mice. The ovaries were more sensitive to the agent since 40 mu c produced complete sterilization for at least 5 months after its administration while the testes were resistant to doses up to 205 mu c which were lethal to 5 out of 8 animals. The histologlcal pattern of the ovarles was one of complete disappearance of immature follicles and generalized luteinization. The testes did not show any particular qualitative or quantitative alteration. Pregnancy protected the animals since the sterilization dose was 90 mu c which represents more than double the sterlllzation dose for a nonpregnant female. (auth)
