The processes taking place during the vacuum sublimation of solid complexes of individual rare-earth elements obtained in the M(dpm){sub 3}-nHpiv=hexane systems (M = Nd, Er; Hdpm = dipivaloylmethane; Hpiv = pivalic acid; n = 1, 2, 3) have been studied. It has been noted that the mixed-ligand complexes Er(dpm){sub 3}{center_dot}Hpiv and Nd(dpm){sub 2}piv form in the systems studied when n = 1 and that they disproportionate at different temperatures during heating in a vacuum. It has been discovered that the disproportionation processes of these complexes can be utilized to increase the efficiency of sublimation methods for separating mixtures of neodymium dipivaloylmethanate and erbium dipivaloylmethanate.
