FORCED CONVECTION LIQUID METAL INPILE LOOP HYDRODYNAMIC TEST OF THE LIQUID CIRCUIT

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:4794145
Hydrodynamic and flow distribution studies were completed for the in- pile loop liquid metal circuit mock-up when assembled with either the ceramic or cermet threetier fuel element models. A comparative analysis was made between the water pressure drop results obtained with the liquid metal circuit mock-up assembled with the ceramic fuel element model and analytical calculations. The difference between the analytical and experimental results for water at 100 deg F was found to be 17%. Tabulation of the experimental fluid velocities showed that there is flow channeling in the heat exchanger and lower return annuli. (M.C.G.)
