THE $pi$$-$$pi$-INTERACTION IN THREE-PION STATES

Integral equations for the processes gamma yields 3 pi and K yields - 3 pi are derived by the Tamm-Dancoff method. It is known that the usual double dispersion relation does not hold exactly for these processes, since the three-pion irtermediate reaction has been overlooked in the formulation. In this treatment the contribution from the three-pion reaction is essential. The lowest order iteration solution of these integral equations for the process K yields 3 pi which holds when the three-pion reaction is negligible is the solution previously obtained from dispersion relations.
