APPROXIMATE METHODS IN S WAVE PION NUCLEON SCATTERING

The reliability of the Tamm-Dancoff and Cini-Fubini methods for S-wave pion scattering is examined, by applying these approximations to an example for which the exact solution is known. It is shown that under centain conditions the Tamm-Dancoff method in its lowest orders is quite accurate, the Cini-Fubini method being urreliable. (auth)
