The technique of red blood cell labelling with Cr-51 is described and the method for the determination of the volume of red blood cells is described using for illustration some cases of normal RBC values, polycythemia, anemia, and pseudopolycythemia. The technique of determining the survival of red blood cells labelled with Cr-51 and experiences with 5 healthy (normal) and 10 pathologic cases are described. Cross-matching tests with Cr-51 labelled RBC in patients suffering from the extracorpuscular hemolytic anemia are also reported. (auth)
