THE CONTINUOUS MEASUREMENT OF THE HEIGHT OF COAL BY USING RADIOISOTOPES

Journal Article · · Izmeritel'naya Tekh.
OSTI ID:4790280
Electical power stations require unified equipment for the control of the filling of coal hoppers and radioisotopes are well sulted for this purpose. An automatic compensation regulation system is described for moving coal. This system is operated by a motor coupled to a transducer which transmits information on the position of the sourcedetector system to a monitoring control device. An electromechanical system disconnects the motor at a predetermined max and min position so that an even and regular coal supply is assured. A gamma radiation source of 3 mc of Co/sup 60/ is used. This makes it possible to work with 75-cm dia which could be increased if necessary. The radiation intensity is measured by a halogen-filled Geiger counter. (OID)
