THE P$sup 31$(p,$gamma$)S$sup 32$ REACTION AT 355 keV AND 440 keV PROTON ENERGY
Gamma radiation produced in the P/sup 31/(p, gamma )S/sup 32/ reaction was studied at the 355 and 440-kev resonances. The relative intensity of the gamma in the spectra and their constancy with the angle of observation indicate s- wave proton capture and spin 1 + for each resonant capture level. A study of the angular correlation between the components of the cascade radiation at the 440- kev resonance confirms the 1 + assignment to the capture state and determines a spin and parity of 1 + for the 4.46-Mev level of S/sup 32/. The E2/M1 irtensity ratios were obtained for transitions in S/sup 32/. (auth)
