S>The intensity of a proton beam may be monitored by well known nuclear reactions if the absolute cross sections have been determined with a good accuracy. Results were obtained on excitation functions between 40 and 150 Mev for four nuclear reactions on graphite and aluminium targets. Cross sections for the formation of radionuclides C/sup 11/ and Be/sup 7/ from C/sup 12/ and Na/sup 24/ and Na/sup 22/ from Al/sup 27/, were mea sured in the limits of 5% of accuracy. The proposed values for 150 Mev protons are respectively 45 plus or minus 2 mb, 10.5 plus or minus 0.5 mb, 9.6 plus or minus 0.4 mb and 18 plus or minus 1 mb. (auth)
