The total cross section and energy spectrum for the (n,p) reaction on Ni was measured using a modified broad-range magnetlc spectrograph with nuclear emulsions as detector. Proton spectra were measured at two angles, 0 deg and 138 deg . A nuclear temperature of 1 Mev was determined. Assuming an isotropic contribution due to the compound nucleus interaction, the cross section, due to this process, was found to be 650 plus or minus 150 millibarns. The additional contribution due to direct interaction was estimated to be 160 plus or minus 30 mb. An (n, alpha ) cross section of 87 plus or minus 45 mb was found. The limitutlon on accuracy was due to the stutistics. An upper limit on the (n,d) cross section of 25 mb was determined. (auth)
